The backstory

Vicki VanArsdale has more cats than hands, and she realizes this may be a problem for some people. She’s decided not to care. Instead, she lives vicariously through her characters while searching for Mr. Right—preferably a man with a green thumb, a boat, and the ability to tolerate cat hair.
 

A recovering self-doubter, Vicki writes deeply human stories about smart women (and the occasional emotionally complex man) rediscovering themselves when life goes sideways. Her work explores romantic relationships, friendship, family, reinvention, and the absurdity of being human—usually with wit, a well-timed plot twist, and coffee. Lots of coffee.
 

Vicki tried to ignore her calling for years. Why? Who knows. Sometimes the thing you want most waits for you to be brave enough to claim it. She worked as a multimedia producer at Bloomberg News, a contractor for the National Institutes of Health, a marketing communications specialist, and a professional dog walker. She even has a Master of Science in Health Communication from Boston University, which comes in handy when convincing her cats to eat holistic food.
 

She hasn’t won any fancy literary awards (yet), but she excels in beachcombing, bird feeding, and the firm belief that it’s never too late to rewrite your own story.
