Half of my career has been in healthcare and the other half has been in the media. I brought it all together with a Master of Science degree in Health Communication and a Graduate Certificate in Visual and Digital Health Communication from Boston University (May 2017).
Through this rigorous curriculum, I learned about qualitative and quantitative research methods and how to analyze health data in epidemiology and in life sciences. I also learned how to apply marketing and communications principles to healthcare, hospitals, physician practices and pharmaceutical companies. As a digital communicator I’m also skilled in the use of social media, and content creation and curation.
I can also:
- Employ communications strategies and tactics to influence audiences.
- Apply basic research fundamentals to health communication.
- Interpret complex scientific and health information and present it appropriately for different audiences.
I have worked in acute-care hospitals and global media outlets, and my previous job titles include content marketing consultant, web content manager, freelance writer, radio copywriter, digital media producer, ghost writer, proofreader and executive assistant. Others include dog walker, certified personal trainer, and co-leader of a marathon training group. I was previously certified in both human and pet CPR.
Ideally, I’m seeking a full-time role as a medical writer or healthcare marketing communications specialist but will consider projects/contracting. I stay on top of industry trends and continue to develop my skills as a Medical Writer through my membership in the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA).
In my free time, I watch movies, listen to music, write screenplays, visit wineries, and play Scrabble on my iPhone. You may also find me on the beach, chilling with my cat Zoe or tending to my herb garden.
